Welcome!

This gallery displays my collection of shitajiki.  These plastic (or cardboard) sheets are commonly used by school children in Japan as inserts between pages of notebook paper to ensure a smooth writing surface.  They are typically adorned with colorful art and popular characters.  Though not exclusively featuring manga/anime characters, I collect primarily those that are.  Please browse and enjoy, but don't reproduce or circulate the images.  They are scanned items I own, and are not intended to infringe on the copyright of any of their producers.

How This Works...

Boards are only listed with a "code" if it was printed either on the board I own, or on official attachments (like stickers) applied by the producers.  Galleries are organized alphabetically.  I try to use Japanese titles, but I don't know the correct titles for all boards.  If you would like to inform me about a proper Japanese title for a series, a series title for one of the unknown boards, or have useful information about the origins of any boards, please e-mail me.  I always appreciate the chance to learn more.  Click on the orange "Series" titles on the right to navigate.

Well, I’m still around, and this little note should let you know that this site is not abandoned. The sales pages are all still currently available. I will get to more posting and editing over winter break. Meanwhile, enjoy!

Shitajiki:  Pencil Board.  Saien: Vegetable Garden.  The idea is to treat pencil boards like pumpkins in a patch.  Inspired by the "sincerity" described in the following quotation:  "Each year the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's just got to pick this one, he's just got to! I don't see how a pumpkin patch could be more sincere than this one. You can look all around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see."  - Linus, It's the Great Pumpkin,Charlie Brown
